Weird window motor problem..

I'm in the middle of a window motor swap...it seemed my old one had gone bad.

The motor is getting voltage when you put the switch to up or down. 12V, both ways, I checked. But both my old motor and the new one will only go up, even with the motor out of the door with no load. WTF?

Jester,

The window operator switch should provide both power and ground to the window regulator motor in either direction. You need to probe for both at the motor instead of clamping to a chassis ground for reference.

If you had a sedan with a window console at the driver's station, I would suggest checking the override switch and drivers master switches. Presuming this is a ThirdGen with console-mounted switches, this isn't an issue. I'm guessing the original motor is still O.K., and the switch isn't providing a ground in the DOWN direction.

It's also possible that the speed module is stuck, preventing the windows from lowering at speeds above 140MPH. Oops! That's only on 'Vettes and Impalas...
