fixing trip meter

my trip meter stopped working 6 months ago and my speedometer needle bounces a little bit, i'm going to install the white faces for the guages and want to know how to fix these problems while i'm in there? Any info would help, thanks

Every time I've had an odometer/trip meter problem, it is in the gearing or trip meter reset mechanism. You'll have to remove the instrument and open it to diagnose the problem. A little study before removing any of the gears or wheels will usually reveal the problem - it's a fairly simple mechanism.

Make sure you write down the exact mileage before you start, in case you have to reset the main odometer wheels for any reason.
