FAQ topic recommendation

As silly to some as this topic may sound, I believe that there should be something in the FAQ if there isn't already about fuel filter changeout and how to relieve fuel pressure.

I did the job tonight and still being new to the 3RDGen, I had to consult the "Search" button.

Anyhoo - After 30 minutes of searching, I found my answer.

Simply shut car off, unplug the 3-wire Weatherplug(not sure if thats tech name) that is plugged into something just under the car where the seats would be (on the other side of course). Start the car, run it until it dies, and BOOM - no pressure.

The rest is quite simple.

The only reason I suggest this is because, even though the answer is SO simple, there are QUITE a few wrong directions that have been posted before and this would drastically reduce confusion.

Thanks

Wrong in some instances is quite arbitrary. I for example have never had a problem with just shutting off the car, crawling under there with some rags and junk and takin' care of the damn little thing. People have had many ways to release pressure. One example is that you can unplug the fuse for the fuel pump and crank the car a bit to releave the pressure. To do a FAQ you should input all the ways it has been done reliably. You can also write one yourself and email it to Dirk. I think that's how most of the FAQ stuff is in there now.

Forgive me if this sounds stupid, but wouldn't just removing the filler cap for the gas tank releive the pressure?

You'd think so, but I use that technique, and I think I have about 10 years of my life taken off. Being totally coated in gas (even the old testies were burning like hell) can't be good for you.

Sometimes, even if the pressure is totally relieved, the lines will still flow gas. Gravity and all, you know. My guess is that in certain positions the gerotor that drives the fuel engine-bound allows fuel to flow past it. I think it all depends on what position it is in when you shut the car off.
