I just bought an 86 IROC parts car. It has a tuned port motor, with the VIN digit "F", indicating the 5.0 TPI motor. The guy told me that it was rebuilt, and is a 5.7. How am I supposed to tell? Any ideas? Thanks.

Get the casting number off the driver side rear of the block, right where the trans bolts up. (look behind the dr. side valve cover)

Then go to www.mortec.com That will show you what you have.

Also, on the drivers side rear of the block, a lot of later models have a "5.7" or "5.0" cast into them. If it is dirty, you may have a hard time readiing it. It is also hard to get a good view.
