Who makes a good one piece oilpan gasket for a 71 400 sb?

Ive used the cork ones on my last two motors and they all leak over a short period of time. I heard about a one piece gasket for the older blocks. Anyone know who makes it? or have a part number for it?

Thanks,
Mike

No such thing that I know of...

Use the FelPro -R series gasket. Also you can often get a better seal at the ends with silicone than the rubber seal. Fill the grooves in the rear cap and the timing cover with silicone, let it set up an hour or so, then smear some more on that and on the mating surfaces of the pan.

Alternatively you can use no gasket at all and silcone only all the way around, this often works well too.

May want to check. I have heard that Fel_pro is now making one piece for the older motors. I know someone makes them for the newer motors, but have heard rumor that Fel is making for older smallblocks now.

It was a non-issue for me because I used an aftermarket timing cover (which also leaked at the bolt holes around the cover). I think most aftermarket timing covers are 72 design and later

Thats what IM using a(79)thick front and rear seal pan. I read somewhere that there was a one piece seal for the -79 pans. IM trying to use better quality gaskets this time.

IM buying my gaskets this week(Felpro)maybe the rep from Summit knows.
