Good news!

Camaro #2 starts! Ended up replacing all spark plugs/wires/cap & rotor and solenoid, and moving the plugs 1 over, it runs good! Guess who's getting nookie tonight! hehe (It's my g/f's car)

I do have a problem. The choke is comming on, and staying on immediately after reconnecting the batttery and starting her up. The RPM's were high, around 2100 when first starting the car, it's been sitting for 3 weeks, I tapped the gas, dropped to 1300 RPM's. Apparently this was the cause of the car screwing up in the first place.

Any ideas on the choke? I have no clue whatsoever about it. I think it's an electric choke. 1986 Camaro IROC 5.0 lt V8 Carb.

That's what it's supposed to do.

Might need a little adjustment; but if it goes to the lower idle all the time after it's been running for a few minutes, it's working right.

Well, the choke light is comming on immediately, and when it did this before, the car dieseled for 5 minutes, idle was stuck at 2400RPM's (AFTER it dropped to the normal idle).

If it sounds like it's idle/choke is fine, why is the car reporting a choke problem? (Choke light on)

i don't know much about those qjets but i guess verift that the choke isn't sticking, if so clean it out (wouldn't hurt to tear down the carb. and rebuild it either)

The "Choke" light is really the "Alternator" light. The whole circuit is arranged in such a way that if the ignition is on and the alternator is not charging, power is not fed to the choke, so you can sit there with a cold engine and the ignition on for as long as you want before you start it, and you'll still have the correct choke action.

Check your alternator. Don't fool around with the carb until you get the alt to work, which will turn out the light ans start supplying 12V to the choke wire.
