350 build up

ok noone is replying to my other thread...maybe they dont like the topic name...but anyways i am curious how much it would cost to bore out a 350 .030. also i am wondering which is more realistic(monetarily)? buying a shortblock and putting on the heads, cam, intake, etc of my choice or buying the baseline stock 350 replacement from SDPC2000 removing the crap from that and put on the heads cam intake etc of my choice. which is smarter. i am leaning towards the complete engine. thanks a lot.

I'm guessing you're debating whether to rebuild your old 350 or to just buy a new one.
Actual boring of a used block depends on the machine shop... check prices first. My last boring bill for 350 + .030 = $130. I might be getting a deal because I known the guy for a dozen years... oh well. Add in all the rest of the parts for a rebuild and a few more bucks for installing + 30 pistons onto the rods.
If you wan to change heads and things on a new motor please go get yourself the sdpc catalog first. Best bang BUT currently short supply is a ZZ4 shortblock (no cam) for $1850. These deals aren't listed on the website but you could call. I left my catalog in the other car 2day. A baseline 350 shortblock is probably less than half the price of the zz4. I wouldn't pay more for a complete motor just to rip it to pieces anyway.

Yeah, but he can sell the new pieces that he's not using, too. Or use them as bartar for other stuff.
