does anyone know how to tell by the numbers what year my engine is? the engine thats in the car is not origional.

yes, postem on here or look em up on www.mortec.com.... behind the drivers side head you will find the casting number.. might be kinda hard to see.. probably covered with some dirt and grime and ya might need a small mirror to see it, in front of the passanger side head on a small ledge next to the top of the water pump is another number, should be the first few numbers of the origional vin from the car it was in and a suffix code which is helpful in determining the year/make of that car and also what the engine is..

You can also look for the 3 digit number on either side of the block. It's the last 3 digits of the block's cast numbers.
