Homeade fuel pressure reg

anybody made one? A friend made oe up with a screw welded to the top to adjust. Has anyone ever done this and worked? Also on a stock 305TPI, what pressure should I use. I have gutted air boxes air foil, headers, no cat, tinking of prting plenum when I have it off.

i have done this mod and have had no problems thus far. i suggest using a fine threaded screw so that when adjustments are made it isn't so sensitive. this is such a cheap mod (about $15 if you don't have a security torx bit, about $2 if you do) i don't understand why more guys don't try this. save your $120 you would spent on a name brand AFPR, this mod will yield the same results. here is a link to a write up on the procedure by Vader. he is write on with the directions.

Thanks, I think I will try it this weekend. What about fuel pressure? How high should I go?
Thanks

Its not how high, that is probably not what you want to do. Every car varies between actual output, mods, all sorts of things. You will just need to experiment and see where it performs best. In any case, most people run less than 50 with the vacuum disconnected. Mine is at 46.

Warning!

I wrote the article, yes. I also amended it later to include a clarification about the ball size to use when performing the conversion. Mike hasn't updated the article yet, but here is the link to the updated procedure:

Thanks Vader, the one I have already has a disk welded to the bottom of the adjustment nut so I will not have to worry about the ball size. Great article, this site amazes me with info.
