Why is there no flow from my breather hose?
Why is there no flow from my breather hose?
LG4 CCC Q-Jet>>> You know that hose that comes from the pass. side valve cover and goes to the Air Cleaner. I dont feel any vacuum under any condition from that hose. My PCV valve checks out OK (strong vacuum, loose clicky thing moves freely) it can't be more than 6 months old. Am I missing something here???

With the engine idling and the PCV valve installed, hold your palm over the pipe for about half a minute. You'll probably fell it when you remove your hand.
You're not going to pull much actual vacuum at the intake side from that breather line becuase they aren't sealed up tight against the valve covers (PCV or the intake tube) and there is still stuff being pulled past the rings and other minor areas where a slight leak could occur- seals here and there, etc. Not really what I'd call blow-by in the bad sense of the word but engines just aren't sealed up like a Ziploc Freezer Bag.
Thanx guys. you were right I could only feel it after holding it and releasing. I live in CA and in between each smog (every 2 yrs.) I Pull all the smog, except the air pump, which I reroute to the cat so it doesnt burn ou without the management valve or air rails. Now that I now it works right I'm considering an aftermarket breather. Any suggestions as to what brand/sive will fit my stock valve cover???
