cam/heads for 305TPI??

I have an '87 LG4 soon to have a TPI swap done to it. I was wondering if a stock cam out of a late 70's truck would be better then my stock cam, also would the heads bolt on with no problems or would I have to do modifacations to the block to get them to work? Anyhelp would be appreciated. I'm on a really really really tight budget which is why I'm not looking at new stuff. I already have the cam and heads laying around.....well actually my dad does but I have access to them if I want them :-)

The 87 LG4 has the same cam, which is a roller, as the 87 305 TPI auto would. The old truck motor has a flat-tappet cam. Use the LG4 one.

The 87 LG4 heads are the same as 87 TPI heads.

Just bolt the TPI onto the LG4 long block, it will be essentially identical to a 87 TPI motor in an auto car. Leave the truck crap out. Not one single piece of it is of any use for what you're doing.

yeah but if you wanted to get some more power out of that thing for cheap, while you have the engine out, put in an LT1 cam about $30-40 on ebay and get some better springs....that will get you some more power, around the 305TPI 5spd G92 specs....it should be a nice improvment for you.

Do I have to swap out the lifters when I put the LT1 cam in? somewhere I got the idea that I may reuse mine since it's an '87 and unless I'm wrong it has a roller cam which is the same as the LT1 in the sense that they're both roller cams. Is this correct or did I read something wrong?

Also what is the yellow/redline for my engine? stock LG4 soon to be TPI, and would it change if I put the LT1 came in?

One last thing......so far........What was so special about the G92?

Nope, you can reuse the factory roller lifters as long as they are in good shape.
