sound good?
ok im thinking of building this for a truck for a friend of mine, the engine wil need to have high revs for off roading so a nice powerbad starting from 1,500 to 6k will needed.
anyways these are the parts and the numbers that DDY2K said for it.
68 327, .30 over
Edelbrock 600cfm cafb
Edelbrock Performer RPM Dual plane intake
Summit brand cam part number sum-k1107
AFR 190 heads with 68CC chamber heads
Headman Shorties
Dynomax 3inch Catback with dual tips
DDY2K says
hp = 417 at 6500
tq = 381 at 5000
so what do you all think, sound good?
and what would you reccomend i do to gain more torque. i was also thinking of bolting on 100shot of nitrous? this will not be a daily driver, it will be here and there crusin and drive to work and school every once in a while but ill mainly drive my truck.
any seggestions?

Why waste your money on AFR's when you're throwing all these lower-grade parts on top of them (cam, carb...)? You could get 417HP out of production GM heads like vortecs and be $1000 ahead of yourself.
"high revs" and "more torque" don't seem to sound right together to me.... A similar combo with a 350 would make more power and more torque...

Want more torque?
Can we all say B-L-O-W-E-R ?
hehe..
really, get a 350 and dup the 327. 350 makes more power and more torque.

what i ment was THIS ENGINE, he doesnt have the cash for another engine, he is using the 327 that he has. i know that the summit brand cam is a great cam because i have one in my camaro, and i havent had a problem, they arent cheap parts, just cheap prices.
what i ment was what would be another way of building this engine to have atleast 350 TQ and like 400hp.
dont bother saying that if he can spend like 3k on this engine then why cant he go just get a 350 and toss in a 400 crank or such, he doesnt want that, he wants an engine that will rev and have a broad powerban like a 327 does have.
also no power adders, other then nitrous if any others get too pricy to build your own settup, or arent efficent enough for a car that will be drivven ALOT.

then should i go with vortec heads, a crane or comp cam, and like a Road demon carb?

what kind of offroading is he doing?
if hes doing anything like what im thinking of, he needs low end TQ.. not high end HP...
and if he plans on tilting the truck/jeep/whatever alot, he probly should goto some form of FI instead of carb...
but if hes keeping it pretty level, a small block with a "RV" cam and a nice intake would do him just fine.
low speed offroading doesnt require alot of HP.. but it does require TQ...
what exactly is he doing? theres a world of diff between a engine for jumping sand dunes and a engine for crawling up cliffs...

Heres some of my desktop dyno findings (not that I trust DD though)....
327, 9.5:1
Vortec heads
Same summit 1107 cam
Single plain intake
750cfm carb (lets assumes its a HOLLEY)
"large tube" headers
415HP @ 6500RPM
376HP @ 5000RPM
Not really my idea of a good off-roading motor considering low-end torque is what gets you over those hills and through those pits.
If you change the cam to something less wild like the XE274 you'll get a little less peak HP but your low-end torque greatly improves ....

well mainly mud pits and trail rides and such, just small stuff, but he also needs power to get the 35's for the highway. thats why the top end and the 327.
