Is running a car without a GAS CAP hurt it?

i was an idiot last night and pulled away without puttin the gas cap back on. Is it bad to run it without it, and where can i get a new one fast.

No it won't hurt it. (on the new cars it sets a check engine light)

You can get one at any auto parts store.

Actually, if your gas tank is in good condition (Filler neck no wobbly or loose), the cap actually incerases your mileage because it keeps the tank under pressure. It then does not let any vapor/fumes into the air, keeping every ounce of gas in your tank. You'll know if your gas tank is in good condition if you hear a hissing sound after you take off the cap, meaning that it's decompressing.

Don't drive too fast either. The vacuum of the moving air will pull out gas from the tank and it will run down the side of your car. (been there, had it happen).

Yeah, and don't try turning any corners with a full tank either, the gas will splash out all over your 1/4 panel. I had my cap on, but not tight (one of those locking gas caps that don't always tighten really good) and gas coming out caused my paint to bubble up under the cap and down the side of the car. Not cool at all. Same thing happened on my friend's 86 Z-28 after he left the cap off, but he got the gas washed off sooner than I did.....
