Is there a break-in period for a rebuilt engine?? If so what is needed to break it in??
Thanx in advance. Should have her on the road today. Just have to pick her up from the exhaust shop

just go easy on her for the first 500 or so miles. check the fluids periodically to make sure everything is turning smoothly.

If it's a flat tappet cam, the first thing you need to do is bring the RPMs up to 2000-2500 and let the engine run for ~15-20 minutes.
If it's a roller you don't need to do that.

well fortunately it's a roller cam. I've ran it a few times without the exhaust and it definitely sounds good. I was just curious as to "take it easy on her" means.

Don't floor it.
Don't rev it to 5 grand.
Don't let it cruise at 65mph for 3 hrs.
Basically... Don't have any fun with it until 500 miles.

Thanx for the info AJ. I'll just have to control my foot for those first 500 miles. Oh well. Don't want to blow anything up after spending so much time and money in this engine. Thanx again
