Al. L98 / Vortec heads on 305?
Al. L98 / Vortec heads on 305?
Im lookin at getting some new heads for my 305, and I know i need to keep 58 cc combustion chambers and 1.94/1.5 valves. My question is with 58 cc combustion chambers will the chamber size extend over the cylinder bore, being a 350 head? Also which would perform better, the alum. L98's or the Vortec's (if that release date for the TPI mani. ever comes)?
Thanks

I've got the L98's on my 305 and there are no clearance problems. If you wanna have 58cc chambers with the Vortecs you'll have to have them decked (I'm not sure on how much). Car Craft did a build-up with decked Vortec heads and they didn't have any clearance problems either.

Both of these heads require a 350 head gasket. The Ported heads are pretty expensive, they cost me right around $1,000. Post on the SDPC board to get an exact price.
