Cam is in,...several problems.

1. The car runs warm. Not hot,..just above 220.

2. I have no power what so ever, my grandmas escort pulls harder. Part throttle is ok,.. but wot is a joke.

3. Sitting in gear,..it stalls.

I was thinking the rockers might be a little tight, but im not shure.

I swapped an L98 cam for my L03 cam... any Ideas?

Same thing with my car after a cam swap and port and polish on the heads. Part throtle is awesome, WOT leaves much to be desired. (Best I pulled at the track was a 14.3

I think you either need to bump up your timing, increase your fuel pressure (I'm sure there's a way to do it on TBIs too) or just adjust the valve lash again.

Definitely sounds like your rocker arms are to tight. How did you tighten them?

Sure all your plug wires are right?

My plugs & wires are right. Do you have any suggestions on setting the valve lash? I pretty much went word for word in the chiltons manual...but it didnt seem right to me.

Do not discount the possibility that one or more lobes may be bad. This happened to me twice once with a Sig Erson cam that went flat very soon after installation and once with a cam from JC Whitney(I KNOW) that was actually ground incorrectly! Did you degree the cam before assembling the engine? Did you use multi indexed crank gear? If so do you know for sure what position it is in? Lastly, are you sure the allignment marks are correct on the crank/cam gears?

bought a wrecked(head on,bad)'84 Z28 rebuilt it in'92 parked it in
'93 and ordered a '93 Z28. Got tired of the 4th gen in '99 and sold it and begin swapping in '85 TPI converted to speed density. engine is all stock except for comp cam. body has '86 IROC nose peice, ground fx and IROC wheels/goodyear 245/50's. IMO this car looks and feels more "racey" than my '93 did. and I love driving it. BTW fuel injection is great I'll never go back to carbs.

In high school I was told 1/2 turn after zero lash. We would do it in fireing order with each piston at TDC. (both lifters down)

Im really stuck here. Not shure what to do....looks like im taking the intake off AGAIN.

The cam came out of a low mileage L98, and was running fine before it was dissasembled.
My cam and crank gears were lined perfectly at TDC.

I was thinking of pulling the covers and backing off a 1/4 turn. What do you guys think?

sounds like either too much or too little timing, but needs to be checked to see if it is lean or not.

I dont think valve is a problem here since it runs good at part throtle. Although not setting the lash when the engine is running is not a good idea, it doesnt really make THAT much of a difference. Defintely look into a custom chip or like I said before play with the fuel pressure, try an injector spacer etc etc...
