Trick Flow Heads G1 need rockers *need advice**

I'm in the process of upgrading my 1.5 rr on my 355 '88 Formula but need to know what roller rockers will fit under my stock value covers without any problems. I know the rr need to be self aligning but need to know if anybody out there has a similar setup. I'm looking at the Pro magnum or Crane. Let me know.

Jeff

note: I did search already and couldn't find the answers.

If they are TFS G1 heads only a few select roller rockers will work properly. If you dont use the correct ones you will have failure. This is from what I had read in the past when I was in the market for heads, I dont have the thread handy right now. I think your best bet would be to call TFS and ask them.

Thanks dude. I did ask TFS but the rr they recommended were not self aligning and I need self aligning in order for them to work with my stock value covers.

Interesting, I've never heard that SA or non-SA rockers were issues with valve covers...you sure you don't mean "narrow body" rockers?

Regardless, what you need to ask is what SA RR's work with stock valve covers.

Funny though, since TFS's reply would indicate that their heads are setup for guideplates and non-SA rockers.

Do a user search with the following member name: Artie@TFS. He has responded with alot of technical in on the G1 heads. He also states in a thread that you could email TFS with his name on the subject line and he would respond to you personally.

Hope this helps.

OMINOUS_87,

Thanks for the info. I contacted Artie well before posting this and he gave me a part# but we weren't sure whether or not they would fit and they were not SA. I guess I'll have to go with part#1317-16 which are self aligning.

Well typically if the heads are compatible with both SA and non-SA rockers they will come with both guiplates and machined hardened washers that are designed to take the place the guide plate if the guidplate is removed. At least thats the way my heads showed up but they are not TFS. The machined heardened washer keep the rocker stud at the proper height if the guidplate is removed.

You are right they do need to be narrow body rockers as well as self aligning.

The crane rockers read as if they will fit under my stock centerbolt value covers. I'll tell you this I have been given the run around by the boys over at Comp Cams. Everybody I talk to over there givens me a different rocker # and different answers. I'm most certainly disappointed with their tech support. But you guys came thru.
