I read a post sometime back about a compound in the headlight gearbox on 3rd gen Firebirds. Someone had taken theirs apart and it did not have a gear to drive the headlights, just some kind of thick substance. One of mine will not raise, but it will stay up if I physically pull it, and it lowers automatically when I turn them off. I hate to spend $300 to replace the whole thing, when the motor works and it seems like it just needs that compound.
