Start-up problems still.
What information does the computer use to determine the amount of fuel needed at
start-up? I still have a terrible starting problem, and I am now completely lost. It is fuel
related, because I can spray fuel in the plenum, and the car cranks right up. I have replaced
the computer, Prom, MAT, CTS, and fuel pump relay. I have no codes, and my OTC scan tool
says everything is in range. I have done all the normal fuel system checks, (pressure drop,
set pressure, etc.) and have tried starting with the MAF disconnected. Nothing has made any
real improvement. I am not positive that this is an ECM related problem, but I cannot find a
mechanical problem with the fuel system. Thanks in advance for any help.
I posted this on the Prom board also. I replaced my 88 mem-cal with the correct 89 mem-cal, but still no results. Any ideas?

The ECM needs to see distributor reference pulses before fuel delivery will begin. This is supposed to happen as soon as you crank the engine. Have you monitored the injectors at crank to determine if they are actually getting "fired" by the ECM?

Yeah, I checked the injectors with a noid light, and watched the injector pusle width on the OTC scanner. The noid light flashes when cranking, although it is not very bright. The Chilton's manual says that the brightness does not matter. I have checked for vacuum leaks and have found nothing.
