87 305 heads on 76 350 possible?

I realize the heads will bolt on, my concern is detonation. the 76 block has dished pistons(8.5-1 with 76cc), so im guessing ill be pushing right around 10-1 with the smaller heads. my main concern is keeping my tunedport base . i plan on porting the ehads and redoing seals, any other tips? thanks fellas

Are you running in a claimer racing class? Otherwise why would you want to waste money on 305 heads? They have very small ports, even after porting and polishing. Get some aftermarkets (or even used B2Ls) that will cost the same as the work, time and money spent on the 305 heads. As for the compression issue, you will probably be at 10.25:1 (76cc to 58cc). You will need to fillet (round out) the edge of the combustion chamber of the cylinder head to remove the "hot spots". Also, besure the heads and intake base are either canted-center-bolts or pre-'87 intake pattern.

Yea, don't shoot yourself in the foot like that...get some 350 heads and shave them down if you want high compression but at a cheap cost, just don't use 305 heads
