Knock sensor

I have an 85 Berlinetta LG4 carbed, should I have a knock sensor?

When I removed the motor, it did not have one. Do I need it?

I have 2 spare wires orange with a black stripe and black with a purple or pink stripe, could these go here?

If you have got one it is on passenger side of block low down, behind engine mount.
