steering wheel goop

I have been getting alot of black goop out of top seam on my steering wheel-is this normal and is there anything that can be done to stop it? I only have about 43k on my cak and the cover is still tight on the wheel rim. is there anyplace that can take the old cover off and recover it using the old cover or putting a new cover in it?
thanks

Yes unfortunately it's normal. It's the remains of the glue and padding the factory used under the leather.

www.american-stitches.com is a place you can check.
