1.6 rollers and valve cover side clearance, help!
haha, this things driving me nuts, the only thing thats been keeping me from driving my car is the stupid valve covers. I need the help of those who have done the same thing.
My new 1.6 roller rockers w/ poly locks did not clear the stock valve covers (height wise that is). I ordered a set of the proform tall valve covers and the rockers did not clear on the intake side of the cover. I checked the width and it appears that proform made their valve covers approximatly 1/8" narrower than stock
. Well, I think that all I need is that 1/8" and they will clear, but I can't find a set of valve covers that this'll work with. They must be centerbolt covers.
Anyone with this problem have a fix?
Thanks for all help,
Mike

I hope that isn't all the problem is, I'll check though (the pcv is where it was originally, but I guess that they could have shifted it over to the passenger side valve cover?). I'll definatly be PO'd if thats all it is though....
Thanks,
Mike

Happens alot. People decide, for hose routing or whatever, that they'd rather have the PCV or oil fill in a certain place, and don't notice that the intake side of a typical valve cover stands up almost straight, but the exhaust side is tilted in at about a 10° angle. So they put them on with the intake side of the VC on the exhaust side of the motor, and the back of the rockers hits the inside of the VC usually at the top of their travel.

that actually isn't the problem at all, it looks like proform goofed when they made the valve cover. Instead of making the width approximatly 4 inches they only made it 3 7/8". I really think that I need that extra 1/8". When I attempted to simply rotate the valve cover a 180 degrees the bolt holes wouldn't even line up. They were definatly put on the correct way.
Thanks for keeping a check on me though...
Any other ideas?
