cam comparison ???'s
I have a stock LT-1 in my race car, look at my sig for race car specs. my question is: in relation to my current cam
191/.418
196/.430
111* LS
would going to a
208/.474
221/.510
112* LS
be worth doing, I would like to upgrade the cam this winter but don't want to just make a small difference, I can get this for $130.00 if it would be worth the change. if not, can anyone suggest a cam that will make decent power in this motor, this is a race only car so don't worry about idle quality.

I would say definitely yes. That ZZ4 cam is an altogether superior piece to that weenie little thing you have now.
Even the ZZ4 one isn't particularly aggressive at all. You could no doubt do better with something else, but that would be a whole lot faster than what you've got.
Gears would be a big help to you also, especially if you're always on a 1/8 mile track.

thanks RB, I plan on getting some 3.73's or maybe even some 4.??'s when I can afford them. I do spend alot of time on the 1/8th but plan on running a local 1/4 some also. can you recommend a roller cam that would make the most of my set-up, I'm just learning the whole racing scene and really enjoy it.
I have friend that has a built 468 I may get from him if I ever get the guts to put that in the car, but it will cost ALOT to do considering most of what I have as far a driveline goes won't hold up to that 560 crank H.P.

Well if you're bracket racing, it really doesn't matter how fast you go, unless you want to step up to another bracket with bigger prize money or something... consistency is king as you no doubt know, rather than just low ET.
What exactly is the rest of the motor? In particular, what heads, what valves are in them, what valve springs are on them, what rockers? How much are you willing to change about it? I guess that's related to the old "Speed costs money; how fast do you want to go?" kind of thing.

yeah, I see your point. I may end up just staying with what I have and learning to drive it more consistantly. it's hard to resist falling into the "have to go faster" thing, I still have a few bugs to work out of the motor/carb setup and still need to figure out how to cool the damn thing down some, just bought a "aero" style scoop for the hood so that should help a little.
thanks for the input.
