89 Formula 1--Remove pump & plumbing?
89 Formula 1--Remove pump & plumbing?
Being in a state where emissions testing is currently a non-issue, we're wondering if any problems might arise with power or driveability if air pump and exhaust manifold tubing is removed from the L98 w/TPI?
Trying to defer replacing noisey pump and remove associated exhaust header plumbing to make engine access easier as we change out motor and trans. Solutions found for accessory belt drive will also help for this project.

I recently did the same on my '88 350 TPI.
Didn't feel any performance gains, but changing plugs is much easier now without those air tubes.
Also the emissions test was OK!(that's for The Netherlands,of course!
You WILL need another belt lenght,i can give it in milimeters if you want.
Try a search on this subject,I've been discussing this some months ago on this board.
