Lock 'n Load,
Nice setup. If you want to use those 1.6 rockers, you'll need new springs, but this cam will make it worth it.......You'll smile all the way down the track as you knock-off 12.90's.

It's the Comp Cams Extreme Energy 284.

Duration at .050 is 240/246 with lift around .507/.510.

That's why you'll need new springs.

That series from Comp is very, very nice....

Fast/delayed intake valve opening rate with smooth exhaust rate. Bleeds off very little compression, cuts down on overlap, makes TONS of power and torque. Your 383 will think it's 11 to 1 compression, but will still run on pump gas.

I'm using the smaller 274 grind in an early 327 - and it is perfect. Lumpy idle scares old ladies....makes young ones wet.

Hey BOR,

Lack of Essence is causing me to have withdrawals.

Does COMP Cams have that cam spec in a hydraulic roller?

I'm thinking the ZZ4 cam in my car is needing an upgrade, even though I haven't seen my cars full potential yet.

Ive been hunting some one with a 383/SR setup. Reason is that Ive read 112 lope seperation is best for the SuperRam. I think that cam is a 110 isnt it? I dont have my magazine handy.

Any other thoughts? I was hoping for some good conversation to help me learn more about what characteristics of the cam will do to help my setup.

Hey Lock...I would use the LPE/Accel SuperRam 213 cam. Thats what IM using in my 406, Its designed for that intake. I think it would be perfect for what you have and are wanting out of the motor.

It has 224/234* duration 467/488 lift. The opening and closing events are timed for the SuperRam intake using a 383/406 SB. so why not use it to your advantage. That cam will pull great to 6000 with that setup.

I have the 23* trick flows for my 406. I havent installed this combo yet so i cant tell you how it runs.

Go too the Lingenfelter website there is some info there on the camshaft.

well lock, the one i've personally chosen to start with is comp cams extreme no. 12-243-3. duration is 226 and 234 at .050 and lift is .480 and .498. i don't remember the lsa at the moment, but i believe it was around 112. anyway, it's what i'm chosing for my 383 until i spring for the extra money to switch to roller cam. just my opinion, i could be ....., nah.
