LT1 Cam in a TPI?????
yes, my cam is a LT1 cam but it is in a TBI motor. You should have better results in your TPI motor but will need a different computer chip to get it's full potential...as you would for any higher lift cam.

The LT1 cam is almost identical to an L98 cam with 1.6 rockers on it. No chip swap is necessary. I believe on the 96-97 LT1's, it has a longer pin on the front that you'll need to change to the shorter pin. There are different LT1 cams depending on year, but I think the one to get is the 96-97 LT1 cam or 96 LT4 cam (the regular one, not the HOT cam), as it has better duration and lift numbers.

Beast,I installed an LT1 cam in my 89 L98 this summer.I just got it running yesterday, and it seems to be alot more responsive.I haven't driven it yet,but I will by the weekend. As far as the dowel pin in the front of the cam on the LT1,it is used to drive the water pump.It sticks out about .600"and all you have to do is tap it back into the cam so that it is sticking out about .300"like the L98 cam.If you can't tap it in far enough, then you can grind it down till you reach the .300".The part # for the LT1 cam is 12551705 and probably cheapest at www.gmpartsdirect.com

CanBeast,
FYI, the longer pin was installed on all '94-on camshafts in the LT1, LT4, and L99 ("Baby LT1"). The '92-'94 Aluminum head engines had the shorter dowel. The dowel can usually be pulled and replaced or tapped deeper into its recess to the correct depth.
