Engine Rebuild Stuff

My car needs a ring job and I am wondering is it posible to do this without taking the engine out of the car. Is it possible to drop the oil pan and then drop the crank from there. I don't have the time or the moeny to do a complete engine rebuild so this is my only option for now. All help welcome.

i don't believe there is any way to get the oil pan out off the engine without at least lifting the engine off the motor mounts. even then it would be a pain to do anything down there with the crossmember in the way. i think you'd be much better off just to bite the bullet and remove the engine.

sorry.

if you lack the additional 100 or so dollars for parts and 150 or so for basic shop work don't do anything. actually you'd be time ahead to rebuild it all out of the car than fighting to do a rings in the car.
