Dist. losing connection?

Ive been an Auto tech for many years now, ive hd my own shop for a while, i consider myself pretty good...and there has really never been anything i couldnt diagnose on a car................until now????

Ive had my third gen for a couple years now....383...nice lumpy cam that revs to the moon....
One day a year ago i went to start her up and she just cranked and cranked. So i checked for spark and it had none. Took apart the dist. and checked all the components (coil, module, etc) of the ignition system. everything checked out perfect. i put it l back together and it fired up. dumfounded..i just took it as moisture or a loose connection.
then it started up again...it would shut off on the highway leaving me withno power steering and almost crashing.
The dist. wasnt that new....and i like things brand new on my engines, so i bought a whole new ignition system. Whole new dist., plugs, wires, coil,...everything!!! im using an ACCEL coil on a non comp. controlled HEI dist.
nowa year later it does it again, and when i tap the coil to seat it better...and tghten the screws down a little more..it fires up.
but once the car gets hot..ten cools fully ...it wont start?????
ive tried evey thing possible nothingwill get it to stop...and i dont want to buy aything new yet cause its all brand new

i had a 86 caddy have a random no start problem. let it sit an hour or so and it'd fire right up. never did figure it out and you only had a hour or less to trobule shoot because it'd fire if you waited long enough.

Cold it be the accel coil and the stock dist. combination? it looks like the coild expands when hot...and doesnt contract correctly leaving it unseated. And it cant be that individual coil or dist. cause the both are new. is there an aftermarket dist. cap to go with the coil better?
