ok ive read the article on how to read the trouble codes but i still dont quite understand how you know what code its displaying. i just got a SES light up today for my first time. please help me. thanks again. Rick

Every code flashes three times, as 85 indicated. The first code displayed should always be a '12'. That is the first possible numeric code, and the codes will display in numeric order, not most recent of most significant first. Any other codes you have stored will also be flashed three times. When all codes have been displayed, the '12' will flash three times again, and the process starts all over again. The cycle will continue endlessly until the battery runs dead or you turn off the ignition.
As 85 explained, a single flash of about a half-second, then a pause of about one second, then two flashes in succession would be a code '12'. Three flashes, a one-second pause, then four flashes would be a code '34'.
Just write the codes as displayed on a note pad, then check them against the tables when you're finished scanning.
