Sticking throttle..not the cable

Posted this on the TBI board but nobody seemed to have a suggestion or just didn't want to answer me .

The TBI is a Holley 670cfm unit.

I've had a sticky throttle for about 6 months to a year now and I finally noticed when I had my TB off that the passenger side butterfly is hitting the TB bore when fully closed. You can see a area where it is contacting the TB bore. Can this be shaved off slightly or is there an adjustment to correct this? It's getting worse and worse.

88,

If the Holley TB is like most other units, you can slightly loosen the screws that hold the throttle plates to the shaft, allow the shaft to close fully, then alternately, gradually, and evenly snug the screws until they are tight. Try the fit again and adjust as necessary until there is no binding and the throttle close fully. You'll probably have to back off the throttle stop screw to allow the plates to close fully, so just count the number of turns that it takes to clear the stop lever and return the screw to that position when you are finished with the adjustment.

Unfortunately, this plate alignment is usually best accomplished with the TB/carb off the intake and with the throttle return spring on the TB unhooked. Some TBs have the screws accessible from the inside only, so it may be a necessity.

NOTE: The screws are small and very easy to snap off, so a little dilligence in limiting final torque would be worthwhile.

This problem is not uncommon on any throttle valve.

THANKS Vader...your BAD!

I was going to loosen those screws and try to move them but didn't know what to expect as you explained. Thanks for the tip on the screws being easy to break, probably would have been a special screw that I would have had to order and wait a week to get here . That's all I would need after I fooled around with the Holley Projection intake for a few weeks. Must say though it definetly woke my car up compared to that stock manifold! No more EGR codes being set and no more bog at 3000 rpm.
