Oil preferences?
I'm getting ready to take my T/A through emissions testing and it needs a tuneup. I'm doing an oil change and a plug change.
Do any of you have brand preferences when it comes to oil and plugs?
I was thinking of using Valvoline DuraBlend and NGK V-Power plugs.

Any fully synthetic polyalphaolefin-based lubricant will work. That means Royal Purple, Red Line, Amsoil, Valvoline, or Mobil 1.
Havoline Supreme, Castrol Syntec, Chevron, and some other major brands' "synthetic" oil are NOT a PAO base, and is simply an altered, hydro-cracked mineral oil. They've been to federal court over the description of their product as "synthetic" and had to settle for a different designation to stay out of legal trouble. It is known as a "Gropup III" or "Type III" synthetic, or synthetically altered mineral oil. "Type IV" is a truly synthesized base material, which has superior characteristics. Castrol Syntec is a Type III, or altered mineral oil base stock.
Also, synthetic blends are a waste of money. The percentage of synthetic lube mixed with the mineral oil to allow it to be called a "blend" is so small that it doesn't affect its performance at all. It's like the old addage: "Mix a teasponn of wine into a barrel of sewage, and you have sewage. Mix a teaspoon of sewage into a barrel of wine, and your still have sewage."
Why settle for a tainted mixture in your engine?
