New Low Mount Alternator Setup

This is my new low mount alternator setup. I couldn't find brackets to get the alternator down on the passenger side to exactly where I wanted it. I could have even set it a little lower, but I was concerned with it getting wet in the rain. So, in actuality, it could go even a little lower. I tried to make it work with the serpentine system, but I couldn'd figure out how to get enough belt contact with the water pump pulley or crank pulley. Another goal in this project was to eliminate the two big bulky aluminum mounting trusses on either side of the front of the motor. I had previously eliminated the smog pump, and the A/C system, except for the compressor. This cleared up a great deal of space in front of the motor. To tension the belt, there is a piece of aluminum bar stock with rod ends, with one end having left hand threads, and the other end having right hand threads. They're attached to a bracket which mounts to the provision for the mechanical fuel pump. My observations reveal a lot of space saved, and belts that run suprisingly true for the seat-of-the-pants measuring and building. If anyone has questions about this setup, feel free to ask.

It sure makes a big difference when moving the alternator, I wanted to get it away from the fuel pump side of the block so the fuel line would be less restricted space wise, I also installed a manual steering box so I could change sides of the motor as well. I've been pretty happy with the change. I bought a bracket kit to get it waay down low drivers side, but the arm with the adjustment for the alternator to "swing" in hunl too low and hit the pitman arm, so I had to fab up a whole new system.
