Oil pressure sending unit 350 H.O.

Hey, guys. I have an interesting question for you that will hopefully get me a few responses before tomorrow morning. Here's the skinny:

The car is an '89 IROC 5.7 TPI. I bought a 350 H.O. base crate motor and I'm slowly adding the parts that I need. Recently I tried to install the oil pressure sending unit only to find that the hole in the block (just above the oil filter) is too small. The local chevy dealer said that all I need is an adapter to make it work, but neither O'Reilly Auto nor Autozone carry such an animal. The unit is a stock replacement and is identical to the stock unit. What gives? Thanks in advance for the help/tips/suggestions.

Think of it as "tough love".

Now you have the satisfaction of having figured it all out yourself.

I put my oar in a lot around here, but: a) I don't have a 350 HO; b) my sending unit isn't located above the oil filter (well, the 396 is, but figure the odds of that being useful); and c) I didn't happen to see your post yesterday.

There is a wealth of information to be gleaned around here. Don't give up. And now, you can contribute to the pool by telling everybody exactly how you resolved it.
