Are the summit engine kit hypertectics any good?

I am rebuilding my motor and running nos, its a street daily driver, but I will be hosing it with a 125 shot. I do not want forged because they are not as ideal for street. My question is are Speed pro's hypertectics any good? Or is keith black the man? Summitt uses speed pro pistons, but I can substitute KB for a helluva lot more money?

Why do you say forged is not good for the street? They should be awesome and they will handle the NOS, so you won't run into the chance of blowing up a piston.
My $.02, get forged, but if you are stuck on hypereutectic's, the KB Silvolites are awesome, as well as the Speed Pro.

Good luck!

I have the hypereutectic summit kit and no problems at all. I haven't sprayed mine yet though.

the old wives tale was that the piston to wall clearance on forged pistons would need to be so much that you would get piston slap (or is it splat ? ) on the cold starts in the morning.

Newer forgings can get by without this being a problem. But you will get some noise on anything (forged or a worn out cast piston) that has a piston to wall of about .004 or more

I don't know if this is true or not, but I was told that the eutechtic(I'm not gonna try the whole thing) pistons wont run well with nitrous or a blower. I have them in my car, and they work awesome, but i don't have NOS or a blower.

The mfrs. of that type of piston specifically recommend NOT using them with blowers or nitrous. I would suggest taking their advice.

There is nothign wrong with forged pistons on the street. I have built contless such motors with positive results. If you seriously intend to spray it, that is what I would suggest, which is also what the piston makers say.
