Why is my car so slow?
Ok guys I always thought that my car was pretty quick until tonight, I finally raced my buddy in his stang, its got a cam in it about the size of mine and a trickflow intake, headers, and full exhaust, 3.55 gears, and maybe some other little crap. well I thought for sure i would either keep up with him or beat him no problem. Well we race and i got him out of the hole liek 4 feet then he just took off and by the time we hit 100 he was about 4 cars in front of me. Now he has ran a 13.7 with his car in the quarter. Now i mean that puts me at like 13.9 if that. How can my car be so slow and so bad on gas. he gets 3 times the milage i do and is faster by alot. I have more cubes then him, and all the same mods, i am so mad about this. Does any1 have any idea wut is wrong with my car? As of right now its going in autotrader when i get my next pay check.

Think we've been throu this before.
Your buddie's car is faster because it has more Usable horsepower and torque than your's.
Meaning It's a better combination of parts that work good
in the chassis as opposed to on a dyno with open exhaust and no power robbing accessories.
I'll give you a hint....... again....
The cam is too big, the heads need to be ported,
More gear will help, the compression ratio is probabily too low too. the exhaust needs improvement. Usually its the Ypipe and single cat that is the restriction.
Think usable average torque instead of trying to get a high peak horsepower. ( camshaft)
Your car will accelerate faster, make more net rearwheel horsepower and the mileage will be better.

I have wondered this too.
I mean, most stock 305's can at least run 17... right?
I have trouble hitting 60mph before 10 seconds.
And I cant even burn out
What gives?
