simple choke question on edel 600

edelbrock 1406, ..electric choke....has a relay for it, two black wires that lead to the chose, ...one wire wite, and one red wire....i know the white goes to a switched ingition relay. where does the red go...constant 12 volt source i.e. battery??

also, ...when i raise the fuel pressure up, VIA mallry 3 port AFPR....why does the fuel line shake, and the pressure surge? needle will be jumping....whats up with this?

i ran a wire from a switched ignition relay to the green wirte with the white stripe on the fuel pump relay. this is correct?

the surging of the fuel line happens when the key is on the Acc. position...

this happens when i put it on 6 psi. if i set it below 6 psi and it seems stable.

also, car diesels when i shut it off ..--keeps running for 5 seconds without the key in--

maybe its just the relay i wired it to delaying, and not shutting the relay off instantly...who knows. It being the fuel pump.

No instructions with the carburetor? Are you sure it isn't a Holley? That sounds like their M.O.

did you reall just ask me if i cant tell the diff between holley and edelbrock?? lolol nah, its a edel 600 1406, i got it 4-5 yrears ago and had it on my 86, back when i didnt know crap and the shop hooked it up.....im not sure if it even needs the relay. i wonder if i can just hook the ground to the block and hook up a switched ignition relay up to the positive on the choke m and just throw the relay down the road.

i got my car to stop dieseling by the way...theory was correct. the relay i had the fuel pump held power for an additional 5 seconds after the car shut off, ...i cured it by hooking the pump up to the Wiper motor wire --green with white stripe--

just curious, am i supposed to hear my fuel pump run constantly with the key in the acc position? im pretty sure this is normal...just thought id ask though.

One terminal on the choke is grounded, one terminal gets +12v only when the key is in the run position. Even better is to ground one terminal and have the other one receive +12v only when the engine is actually running.

so i can throw this lil black mystery relay away --yes im positive it was hooked up to the choke-- well, thats one less problem...no dieseling anymor, that makes me happy ...hmm...

now why does my fuel line shake if its set above 6 psi...it literally vibrates....and is it OK that my fuel pump is on and sounds like its priming/running at all times?
