I need to change switch my pullys for my alternator but i can never seem to get the bolt off without an airgun.

With the alternator mounted and the belt installed for a little extra tension, carefully, but firmly, wedge a screw driver or similar against the back of the pulley and the case, then loosen the nut...worked for me, but may not for you.

A strap wrench can help hold the sheave/fan as well, but it's a lot easier on the engine or with the rear half of the case removed.

well this is the story...

i got a new alt from napa. everytime i get a new one i have to switch the pullys cause i have a v-belt. so i switched pullys, put on new alt everything is ok for like a week. I return old alt for core $.

Now I go to drive the car the alt is draining my battery again, this was the problem with the 1st alt.

so now i need to return the alt that is on there and and get a new one but I need to switch the pullys. I can get the one off the car now but i don't know if they will let me exchange the alt without a pully. I don't think Will be able to get the pully off the new alt i get from napa.

any ideas?

Alot of the parts stores can change the puley for you. Usually an air impact gun does the trick.

all parts stores around here, AZ and napa will change the pulley for you. if they won't or can't try the strap wrench.
