emmisions dilema: moved from engine sawp

Im planning on doing either a 383 or 350 roller block motor swap into my 85 TA in the spring. I want to run a mini-ram which dumps the egr system, the smog pump is gone already etc... I'll be swapping out the computer with the new Accel Commander DFI and will be running a catalytic. If I swap out the "regular" cam for the mildest cam on the planet( will have to do every 2 years) and really fine tune the computer, should I be able to pass the sniffer test. There is no visual inspection here. I just have to beat that computerized nose. Do I have a chance?
Thanks
Brian
some more info : I plan on using forged pistons, AFR heads, etc. Im shooting for the 400 hp neigborhood on the "regular cam". Then I'm gonna squeeeze it with a 150 shot. This car will be a weekend warrior only.

i'd have to say it should be possible since 85 wasn't exactly the cleanest for emissions yet. might have a small problem with nox emissions without the egr valve, but you can cross that bridge when you get there.

If you build it, they will come....

Yea, right. I built a 350 TPI with a 224/232 .5ish lift cam with no emissions stuff except the cat, and it passes the emissions standards not only for the 88 engine it is, but 99 as well (dont know about the 00 or 01 yet), including the NOx. I wont say this will be the case with your engine, but dont let anyone tell you it cant be done.

Thats what I was hoping to hear. I don't even mind swapping in a cam just to get it to pass and swapping the more aggresive one back in. I just don't want to find out after I'm five grand into the motor , induction, etc.etc. that it can't be done. As long as you tell me its been done, Ill find a way to do it.

Thanks,
Brian
