what im iffy about is wether or not this motor is making 385 horse. i bought it a couple months ago, but money being tight and crap that keeps breakin i have never really tested it out.
long story short i bought the engine from a hick who said his brother rebuilt it and bored it to make 385 horse.
heads look stock and from what ive researched they are probably those smog hog heads, and the idle makes it sound like it has a peanut cam in there. plus the intake manifold looks stock, dont see any brand name on it and it has an egr valve when there isnt a need for one here in MI since there is no emission testings. then the carb, this guy was such a genious engine builder he spray painted the whole carb black while it was on the engine, i can tell cause theres some paint on the gasket. tonight i took the valve covers off, figured the rocker arms would look different then the stock ones but no they look stock too.

I would have to agree... Take that number and subtract about 150 or so and that's about what it's pushing (in good tune that is).

yeah, i figured he was full of seeing as how when i asked for any kind of proof of these numbers his only response was "my bro rebuilt dat som-a-b!tch" or "well its been bored over to make that much horse"
apparently people who have been stroking, using bigger cams, better heads etc.... on a sbc are fools, u just need to bore it
as for casting numbers, dont have them handy, and i dont feel like finding them, sorry
well lesson learned, just another 350 to sell or rebuild

Yep, 5-10 extra cubes are worth 35hp.... Sorry about your luck, but live and learn... It's happened to me before and it sucks...

more likely 385CI, not 385 hp...
