Distributor/camshaft gear compatability

If I use a distributor that origonally came in a roller camshaft equipped engine on a flat tappet camshaft do I need to change out the distributor gear?
Thanks,
Roy

no. you need to use a bronze gear when you use a aftermarket billit steel roller cam. i believe they're all mechanical cams, not factory or factory replacement hydrolic rollers.
