car wants to overheat at idle.. please help

When i am driving around city or high way my car is at about 170-180* all of the time. it doesnt matter if it is 30* outside or 100* outside if im driving i dont have problems. But last night and this morning i discovered that when my car sits at idle in Drive the thing wants to go up to like 260*. Does anyone know what this could be.
Its a TBI 355, 89 RS, i have heard that with have the cylindr walls bored that it will make more heat but this is rediculous.
Thanks alot

Do you have your fan wired to run full time? is it still the stock 305TBI radiator and fan? is your idle mixture too lean?

Does your car have electric fans? If so, they all overheat when idling until the temperature hits the threshold of the fan switch sensor (around 220*F IIRC), then cool down until it hits the lower limit of the fan switch.

If you have a mechanical fan, then maybe the fan isn't shrouded properly. I do not know if the mechanical fan turns fast enough at idle to preven overheating as my car has electric fans. On other cars that I have owned that had mechanical fans, some would prevent overheating and others would not.

the fan does run all of the time.
the radiator is in good shape and it out of a 350 TBI truck.
my fuel mixture is also fine at idle.
