Screwy Transmision Question.... !!

alright i have the 700R tranny or whatever it is... anyways its an automatic and well lets say i'm going 70 down the highway and something comes up and you gotta stop fast... *just usin this as an example* so what do most of you do hit the brakes and **** from OD to D and the car will go up in rpm to high rpms cause your going down a gear then you go to 2nd if you havet to and then the motor is really screamin if your going fast that is..... just like an engine brake... helps you slow down and ****... well anyways my tranny stopped doin that .... I can let off the gas and shift all the way to 1st... and the car like just like kicks for one second as it shifts down but then the car is just like idiling going 70 mph in first... or second or drive if i want whatever i put it in.... and then if i hit the gas it just revs up and goes back to idle depending on what gear i'm in if i'm in drive going 70 and hit the gas it will rev up till it hits that gear and then it just grabs it and goes and if i let off the gas it goes back to idle .... iknow this is alotta wording but i'm just tryin to give enough info to see if anyone knows whats up... tranny fluid is full to its proper level and all... if anyone has a clue i'll take anyideas.... thx alot...

never have done that myself but to me that would be alot of wear and tear on the clutches and shift sol. Does the fluid smell burnt does it slip any other time. might try pulling your pan and see whats in the bottom of it. that is unless maybe someone else might have a different idea.

tranny fluid and filter were replaced like 7 thousand miles ago and the fluid doesn't smell burnt at all.... also tranny seems to be ok cause it does slip hardly at all... its got a little slip but nothing real bad.... still clueless ??

same thing happened to mine and another guy in the transmission board. it was determined either the foward sprag or overrrun clutches are toast. the trans needs to be repaired or will lead to severe damage in the future.
