PCV valve question
Question.... I have a set of polished aluminum valve covers that I plan to install when I do the intake gaskets. The problem is, that they don't have a oil filler hole, just a PCV hole on either valve cover. here's my plan... use one of the PCV holes to fill the engine with oil, that would entail not using the PCV baffles. Will this be bad, besides the fact I will be replacing PCV valves more frequently?
Here's the other plan, just use the K&N PCV filters instead. This way may not pass emissions....I can just put the valves back in for the test.
Tell me your opinions guys
Oh... anyone know where else I can get some sparkplug wire looms for the center bolt valve covers?
Peace Out

Dont remove the PCV baffles and just fill it up through the PCV holes..Those breathers get nasty in time and even drips..just a PITA to keep it clean if you ask me..Just be patientwhen puring oil..lol

I got a set as well
I got a set of GM Performance Chrome valve covers and I have the same quesiton... is yours like these?
One side has two holes (this would be the drivers side) and the other has one hole (passenger side)
What I plan on doing is keeping the PVC valves that are there in the stock setup and where my oil cap is now, installing a chrome valve cover breather.... I think this is my only alternative.

Your third hole is for the filler cap. My valve covers are after market, I think they are Mr. Gasket, not sure, got em off e-bay.
I am still thinking of just leaving the baffles out... if I don't.. I can be patient refilling the car with oil I guess.. LOL...

The Felpro Gaskets are not cheap :)
I picked up a set of these gaskets at Crappy Tire a couple of days ago.... $25.00 + tax!
They look pretty good though... sort of a stretchy blue rubber compound... you have to stretch them over the covers for them to fit..... I'm going to do my covers soon....

Nblanchard, I can't help with your origional question but I do have a little piece of advice,Before you remove your old valve cover's to install your new ones, take your old rubber grommet's out of your existing valve cover's and test fit them in the new ones (The piece that hold's the PCV in place). I just installed a set of "Motor chrome" cover's and discovered that the factory grommet's/oil cap won't fit . I ended up having to buy 4 or 5 different styles at crappy tire to get ones that would work. (would have been much easier if I could have ttaken the cover's with me )................SR

I installed my Chrome covers this weekend
Pulled the old stock covers this weekend and installed my GM Performance chrome covers. It costed me a split finger nail (ouch!) but they went on perfectly without hassle.
I had to use two chrome valve cover breathers though...
On the passenger side I removed the hose that went back to the throttle body and in it's place I put a chrome valve cover breather ... seems that this line is not needed (it basically removes valve cover gases an puts them back into the system to be burned.)
On the drivers side I left the PVC valve in place but had to use another chrome valve cover breather in place of the oil cap... I will have to be careful adding oil to the system from now on
I will post pics when I get them done...

Luckily here in NFLD there is no e-testing.... on an 87 car you don't even need a cat
Hell there isn't even a yearly inspection!! Only time you have to get a car inspected is when you buy it on a private sale...
But I am sure that if our provinical govt figures that there is a way to make money from e-testing they will no doubt implement it...
