Pushrods-long story...

OK...the deal is that I have Pro Topline heads, with a flat tappet cam and Comp Cams Magnum SA Rockers (roller tip, made of steel).

By checking the pushrod length with a pushrod length checker I found that the stock length (7.8") will work perfectly, but I can't find any around MPLS over the weekend...SO the question is...can i use stock replacement (I am sure non-hardened) pushrods, like Sealed Power or Federal Mogul, as long as they are the right length? Or should I really find some hardened pushrods first?

Remember, I have self-aligning rockers and no pushrod guideplates...

TIA

Save yourself the extra trouble and splurge for the hardened pushrods. Don't skimp anywhere on a motor, because in the longrun you're gonna regret it. It's just added insurance.

I put hardened pushrods in my motor BTW.

I understand that...but are hardened pushrods really necessary? Or is it just something else that is done because everyone does it...

Just curious...

Hardened push rods are required for guide plates, optional on non guide plate installs, but I'd use them for the extra insurance.

Conclusion...the ONLY place I could find them in MPLS today was MAS Racing in St. Paul...really sweet place...for same price as Summit...
