car won't crank over
I have an 83 TA, LG4 carbed 305 v8. I went to oshkosh with it and before the exit ramp the car stopped and just died, as in the rpms stopped going and the car rolled to a stop. I tried cranking it over but it wouldn't. I found out it ran out of oil, i thought the engine was seized but my uncle came over and told me it isn't. The carb is getting gas and there is a spark, but he said it was weak. The choke light is on all the time now to, but I have no idea if it is the problem. My uncle said it might be the coil, i am unsure and just need some help. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

That sucks dude, sorry to hear the news. Anyway, it sounds like you may have just burnt up the motor. Put a socket on the crank bolt, and use a breaker bar to try and turn the motor by hand. If it spins that rules out locked up for sure. Please don't get mad, I'm not trying to discredit your uncle, but it's always easiest to start from the beginning. Have you done a compression test? I would definitely check that. If you have good compression and the motor is positively not locked up, then I would start checking ignition. Use a spark tester. It's a little tool that looks like a spark plug, you hook a wire to it, clip it to a ground and crank the motor. Try these couple things and post again to let me know what you find out.
Hope this gets you started,
Good luck,
Jason

Not sure about the older engines, but my car died once and would not restart. It would occasionally restart, but not often. Turned out the pick-up oil in the distributer was bad. I would definately start where J told you too though...I'm just giving some ideas.
