weird noises

ok im starting to frequent these boards too much lol, thanks for all your help guys. Now i have yet another problem. I went to go move my car so my mom could get out and go to work. When i tried to start it, it made a weird noise and didn't crank or anything. It sounded like a whizzing and grinding sound, I don't have anyone off hand to help me find out where its coming from but it sounds bad.

It's hard to determine with that description.... did you try starting the car with the engine cool, or hot?

Did this just suddenly happen, or did you hear strange noises all the while.... finally leading up to this one?

From what you describe though, it sounds like a faulty starter. Does it sound like the starter gear missing the flywheel.... sounding like it's banging and grinding/rubbing against it?

It was cool, i woke up in the morning to move it for my mom cause she needed to get out. Starting it in the past sounded funky, i just recently got the car. I think it is the starter, how hard are they to install? It sounds like grinding

Their very easy to install, just make sure you use jack stands, and not just the jack itself....

Disconnect the battery, then disconnect the connections leading to the starter & solenoid (the solenoid is right on top of the starter).

Disconnect the starter (only two bolts), then replace with the new one. Before you make you're electrical connections.... make sure it's lined up correctly, and use shims if needed.
