Right now i have a 87 IROC-Z. Kinda rare i guess becuase it is yellow and has 5spd with leather and every goodie available. I am taking out the 305 and during my last job i worked on offshore racing boats. I got ahold of a freshwater boat that had a 454 mag. in it. It was a SINGLE engine boat so the motor rotates the correct way. From what i can tell this motor has NO time on it hardley you can still see the bore marks in the cylinders. It has STOCK; Forged pistons that have a tiny bit of dome to them, 4 bolt main, remote oil filter system, forged steel crank, and i guess the rods are a little beefier than normal. Everything has been balanced too. Is this worth the trouble of swapping into this car? I want 500 hp. STock the motor had 360 or 70. Came with rectangle port heads but one is cracked so i am gonna have to get some cheap ovals to get her on the road. My funds arent that plentiful so any suggestions would be appreciated. How much do you all think i am talking money wise to get going. I have a th400 tranny ready to go in i just have to alter car a tad and put motor back together with intake, used heads, cam, lifters, rockers i guess, and that kinda stuff,

500 hp - no problem with the right cam and mild heads.

How much - ~$1500-2000 depending on what stuff you alread have (ie heads, starter, flex plate, radiator, T400 mounting kit, etc....

The motor came with a flywheel weather its the same as car i dunno but its big, and it came with a mini starter and a high output alternator, i was gonna use the same radiator. I have rectangle port heads id LOVE to use but like i said they had salt water through them becuase they came off another motor and the only way id use them is if i could put a filter in the radiator hose either top or bottom that would semi-filter out the trash.
