red smoke

alright, so i am stopped behind a school bus about a week ago. my friend puled up behind me and yelled to me to start smokin the tires. I didnt really want to so i just popped the clutch a little, just enough to get a chirp. Once the bus got going again, it pulled over some to let me by and i stomped on it. when i got home my friend told me when i dumped the clutch a huge cloud of red smoke came out of the back of the car. I checked for leaks everywhere but saw nothin. is something wrong or is my friend just a frickken dum**ss? he does drive a ford...

Zup,

Last things first. To answer your question, probably.

Going backward, the "red" smoke may have actually been brown. This might indicate the presence of iron oxides in the combustion. You may have also been blowing some rust particles out the exhaust from the high flow. Beyond that, I have never heard of an exhaust smoke described as "red".

Your friend may have only been seeing red because he was angry at the fact that he is stuck with a Ford.

What if there were some of that reddish-brown dirt where you were spinning your tires?

What's the chance that white smoke was being lit by red brake lights?

RCR,
probably not. it was the middle of the day and obviously my foot wasnt on the brake. the car is red though, so he might have been seeing the back bumper
