350 vs 305
What are the differences in the block of the two engines? How big could you make a 305 by boring it, by boring and stroking it? Why can't you bore a 305 into a 350?(if indeed you can't)

The as-cast cylinder wall thicknesses are the same between the two engines. But, since the 350 is a larger diameter, the castings themselves have to have different diameter cylinder castings. Therefore, boring a 305 to that diameter would make the cylinder walls too thin.
